- About
Norwich Lads Amateur Boxing Club is at the heart of the Lakenham community in Norwich. And it is the living hearts of Lakenham with which we concern ourselves here. As a boxing club our volunteer coaches and staff are highly trained in boxing first aid. That includes Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Artificial External Defibrillators (AEDs) for the life-saving treatment of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
We are now raising funds to get an AED for use in our boxing gym. AND it will be mounted on the outside wall in a cabinet that will be freely available, at all times, for public use in our community if needed. Please support this cause with your donation.
About Norwich Lads Amateur Boxing Club
Norwich Lads ABC was founded by John Henry Dien in 1918 with the aim of giving young people a place to learn the art of boxing, keeping them off the streets whilst giving them a purpose and identity. Now 103 YEARS LATER the club continues that work in your neighbourhood at the Hewitt School.
Norwich Lads ABC is a not for profit community club run with purposefully low subscription costs to its members. We have always just managed to cover expenses. At Norwich Lads we are fully inclusiv and for the youngsters who buy into the clubs ethos "Speak True, Live Pure" they learn the importance of friendship, belonging, commitment, dedication and family.
Norwich Lads ABC provides a safe environment for lads and lasses to keep fit, train hard and learn the sport of olympic style boxing. We have our gym set up in its own premises leased from The Hewitt School. The club promotes diversity within its membership. We have training sessions that include youngsters from the age of ten, beginners and experienced boxers. We train 100 plus members some 7% of whom are female.
At Norwich Lads Amateur Boxing Club you will see good behaviour, discipline, exemplary sportsmanship, but most of all the friendly care and consideration shown to one another. Over time one can see friendship groups form with youngsters developing confidence and self-esteem.
