We continue to raise funds for our much needed defibrillator. Many of you know that the impetus to do this was due to a very sad occasion when one of our community – Susan – lost her son two years ago to cardiac arrest on our own Green. The generosity of the Three Fields & Church View community has been heart warming but we still have a little way to go. Our original target was to fund the defibrillator itself but we have now increased it to take into account the cost of having it installed and be ready to operate and also the setting up an emergency ‘buddy’ scheme called VETS. This stands for Volunter Emergency Telephone System. Up to ten volunteers from either development will be given basic first aid training so that they can be called on to bring the defibrillator and assist in any way they can until the emergency services arrive. This will be an enormous comfort to anyone who has had to call 999. As the fundraising team we have opted to pay for ten years of the VET scheme so as to avoid having to ask you to donate again in the future.
